Hornsby “Remagine” Art Prize winners announced
Sydney based artist and curator Glenn Barkley took home the $5,000 first place prize for his work Digbabydig (2).

The competition’s $5,000 first place prize was awarded to Glenn Barkley for his work Digbabydig (2). The art prize has been held annually since 2009 by Hornsby Art Society in collaboration with Hornsby Shire Council, and is open to all Australian residents aged 18 years and over.
In his artist statement, Barkley says the work's title Digbabydig (2) is “a reference to contemporary environmental politics” as well as “the source and nature of clay.”

The theme for this year's annual competition was “RE:THINK TO RE:PURPOSE” which the art prize website says “refers to the decisions we make each day about how much waste we create, and how we can reuse materials to help save our precious natural resources”.
Hornsby local Zac Fenn also won the Local Artist Award for his work Heavy vehicles, Hornsby (Four viewpoints).
The finalists exhibition will be held until June 29, at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, 25 Edgeworth David Avenue, Hornsby.
