The best cheap eats in Hornsby

JAS Kan-anan 

Sitting just next to Hornsby station, JAS Kan-anan is a small Filipino restaurant serving braised pork, chicken soup, fried fish and noodles dishes at low prices.

Pho Ngon Restaurant

Soups and salads step aside: when we’re talking affordable Vietnamese cuisine, the banh mi is king.

A standard pork roll here will set you back $8, while a BBQ chicken roll will set you back $9.

$14 ramen, $14 rice bowls. Japanese food only gets this cheap in the beautiful Hornsby shire.

On Thursdays, the Hornsby Railway Hotel sells a chicken schnitzel with chips, salad, and schooner of tap beer or glass of house wine for $20.

Just a little south of Hornsby towards Waitara, this south Indian restaurant serves dosai, idly and vadai (savoury doughnut) with curry sauce and dahl for $13. Chickpea and potato-filled dosai go for $16, and a chicken curry with rice is $15.
