October 4 will mark the last day Crows Nest locals can enjoy a schooner at the Stoned Crow, before its current owners are booted out.
What happened: Yesterday, iconic Crows Nest watering hole the Stoned Crow announced it would be shutting its doors within a month. Owner Arik Shifroni told the Lorikeet the venue would not be reopening elsewhere.
Terminated: According to Shifroni, the decision came down to the landlord not renewing the venue’s lease.
“The lease is finished, it's as simple as that”, he said.
Back in the day: While known today as a family friendly pub and bistro, through the 70s and 80s, the venue had a much different reputation under the ownership of Warwick Short.

Shifroni took over the bar in 2011. He said the large open window facing Willoughby Road drew him to the location, at a time he figured the area was “up and coming”.
It is unknown at this stage what will become of 39 Willoughby Road after the publicans move out.
