A Liberal voter on why he's championing Scott Yung in Bennelong

The recently retired pharmacist has volunteered for the Liberal candidate's campaign due to its enthusiasm and passion as well as "justice" for his profession.

The North Shore Lorikeet visited the pre-polling site at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Chatswood on Thursday to canvas volunteers and voters on the key issues shaping their decisions at the ballot box.

One of the volunteers we caught for a chat was Phil, a recently retired pharmacist who feels that Labor has not been working in the interests of his profession.

This led him to express his support for Bennelong’s Liberal candidate Scott Yung, volunteering for the candidate’s campaign for the marginal seat currently held by Labor’s Jerome Laxale.

Although Phil’s parents were Labor voters, he told the Lorikeet they changed their minds when they became small business owners and now feels that they are still “overspending”.

He expressed skepticism - even suspicion - of the government’s Budgets and feels confident voting Liberal is in his and his trade’s best interests.

“I have never seen so much enthusiasm and activity backing one candidate… [Scott Yung] is such a worker,” he said.
