Here’s how to surprise mum with a special North Shore outing on Sunday

Looking for something to do on Mother’s Day?

From gigs and movies, to markets and bento boxes, there is plenty on offer. Here are six options.

Sunset Series

As mentioned in our May gig guide, North Sydney Council’s Sunset Series concludes on Sunday at St Leonards Park. Bring the whole family, set up a picnic blanket on the grass, and enjoy some live music. R&B vocalists Thando and Natalie Slade are performing.

The event is free and kid friendly.

St Leonards Park, 1pm - 5pm

Orpheum Mother’s Day Screening: Pride and Prejudice

If your mum is a big fan of Jane Austen, 2000s romance movies, Matthew Macfadyen, or all of the above, she's bound to enjoy this 20th anniversary screening of Pride and Prejudice  on Sunday. Tickets to the first session were in such high demand that an additional screening was added.

380 Military Road, Cremorne, 3:20pm, 4:20pm

Kirribilli Markets

Running the first and second Sunday of every month, Kirribilli Markets will be open this Sunday for you and mum to take a leisurely stroll. Stalls will sell handicrafts, jewellery, fashion and art.

70 Alfred St, Kirribilli, 8:30am – 3pm

Gordon Markets

A little further north, Gordon Markets is also open on Mother’s Day. The markets are next to Gordon Station, on the second floor of the Ku-ring-gai Council carpark. At these markets you will find cakes, coffee, food, plants and flowers.

691 Pacific Highway, Gordon, 8:30am – 2pm

Genko

If the typical Mother’s Day high tea is not for you, consider Genzo, a swanky Japanese restaurant that opened in North Sydney last year. It will be serving a three-course Mother’s Day menu ($95pp). The menu includes daikon choko karaage, hiramasa kingfish with grapefruit ponzo, and grilled U8 prawn with kombu and garlic butter. The restaurant also serves bento boxes for children.

168 Walker St, North Sydney, 12pm – 3pm

Garcon

Garcon, a French restaurant in Lane Cove, is serving a Mothers Day’s four-course set menu, at $65pp for lunch and $79pp for dinner. It is also open for breakfast on Sunday.
