North Shore representatives mourn for lives lost in Bondi terror attack
NSW Premier Chris Minns called the attack a "horrifying act of evil."
North Shore MPs have expressed grief and horror after a shooting at a Hanukkah event on Bondi beach left at least 15 dead and 40 injured.
Julian Leeser, Member for Berowra, called the terror attack a "horrifying tragedy”, saying that “our Jewish community, which is known for its courage and stoicism, is shaken tonight”.
Member for Bradfield, Nicolette Boele said that “an attack on Jewish Australians is an attack on all Australians”.
“This is a moment of profound sadness for all of us as we stand with the Jewish community here in Bradfield”.
The upper North Shore region Boele and Leeser represent is home to one of the largest Jewish populations in Australia, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Member for Bennelong, Jerome Laxale: “This isn’t something any of us ever imagined we’d see in our own country.”
“To all affected, we are all with you and pray for the recovery of those injured by this act of evil.”
Warringah MP Zali Steggall: “I want to state unequivocally that antisemitism and hatred have no place in our community. I stand in solidarity with the Jewish community at this devastating time.”
