The big climate change paper, solar for strata and and the pies of McMahons Point

ā±ļø The 43rd edition of our newsletter is a five-minute read.

Morning all,

You might’ve seen earlier this week that the National Climate Risk Assessment has finally been released by the Federal government. This is the report that tells us what will actually happen when the planet warms up. It’s not great.

Much of the report detailed things we already knew. We will have more heatwaves and more droughts. Our coral reefs will suffer, as will our agriculture.

Unless climate change can be limited, it is estimated 1.5 million Australians will be at risk from rising sea levels by 2050. That might seem like a long way away, but it’s as far away as we are from 2000. As far away as we are from "Ms. Jackson", ā€œKid Aā€, and "Weapon of Choice".

We’ll see later this week what federal Labor plans to do about it.

Now, that’s a bit of a heavy way to kick off the morning, so here’s a comic to lighten the mood.

ā€œSave our Post Office!ā€

Let’s get into the news.

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK šŸŽŸļø

HEARD THIS WEEKšŸ‘‚

šŸ“£ WATCH: North Sydney locals protest closure of Milsons Point Post Office

Never before has a Sydney protest seen such immaculately-groomed pooches.

Watch the full video below.

ā˜€ļø How do you get solar panels if you live in an apartment block?

Last year, more than 300,000 rooftop solar systems were installed across Australia.

But what if you don’t exactly own your roof?

Read the full piece below.

🄧 Finding the best pie on the North Shore

For the second instalment in my latest series, I headed down to McMahons Point to try a pie from Breadworks Cafe. How did it fare? Watch below and find out.

SEEN THIS WEEK šŸ¦ˆ

Can you tell me what’s wrong with this picture? That’s a critically endangered Grey Nurse Shark, tangled up in nets we laid out. Instead of protecting this species, last year, we killed four of them with shark nets.

See our full video on shark nets here.

That’s all from me.

As always, feel free to email me at [email protected].

Cheers,

Huw
