Trying the Tiramisu stall Chatswood residents are queuing up the street for
While we were served a decently-portioned slice at Flybee Tiramisu, the dessert may not have a strong enough coffee flavour to satisfy tiramisu enthusiasts.
Every week this stall at the Chatswood markets either has a sold out sign up or a massive queue outside, so we had to go check out what the fuss was about.
This is Flybee Tiramisu. Their stall at Chatswood Mall markets is just a short walk down Victoria Ave from the station.
They sell an original and traditional Tiramisu, the only difference is the traditional one is made with alcohol (usually Marsala or Kahlua). They also have Durian, Soy and Lychee flavoured tiramisus, but I stuck with the original for today.
First up, this is a big slice, filling out a burger box. However, in terms of quality, I wasn’t fully satisfied. The central flavour in tiramisu should be coffee, and that didn’t really come through for me: though to be fair, I did get the original tiramisu, without alcohol, that might have affected the flavour.
I found it was dense enough to not be a mouthful of cream, which I appreciate in a tiramisu, but also not very light and a little bit on the fatty side.
Is it good? — Yea, but frankly it’s hard to serve a bad tiramisu if you know what you're doing. Is it worth the wait? — That all depends on what you are looking for in your tiramisu.
