Lane Cove Festival

In partnership with the Sydney Fringe Festival, Lane Cove will be hosting its annual festival featuring circus, theatre, live music, cabaret and more. The festival will also include markets, fashion parades, and art awards throughout the month of September. See the full event lineup on the Lane Cove Council website.

Moocooboola Festival

Looking for a fun family outing for Fathers Day? The Hunters Hill Moocooboola festival will be on for Sunday the 7th, featuring pony rides, dog shows, musical performances, dodgem cars and slides.

When: September 7, 10am – 4pm

Indigenous Cultural Tours

The Coal Loader, in collaboration with Koori Kinnections and the Aboriginal Heritage Office, will be hosting a free guided tour in Balls Head, exploring the Indigenous cultural heritage of the area. The session will include a hands-on session with traditional tools and weapons, and will explore the significant rock engravings on site.

History Week: The Art of Luna Park

Interested in the history of Australia’s most iconic amusement parks? As part of History Week, join Council Historian Dr Ian Hoskins in Stanton Library to explore the history of Luna Park, looking through artefacts and archives in the Stanton Library collection.

When: September 9, 6pm – 7pm

Hongkonger Street Market 2025

Returning once again, the Chatswood Hong Kong Street Markets will be on later this month, bringing some of the sights, sounds, and most importantly, tastes of this culinary capital to the North Shore. Expect street food, artisan stalls, and live musical performances.

When: September 28, 10am – 8pm

Chatswood StreetFair 2025

Chatswood Mall Markets on steroids. Part of the larger Emerge Festival in Willoughby, this fair will see the main streets of Chatswood closed off for more than 140 stalls, live music performances, and a parade.

When: September 6, 10am – 6pm

JCS Japan Festival in Chatswood

Yakitori, takoyaki, and okonomiyaki: this month, the Japan Club of Sydney will be hosting the annual Japan Festival in Chatswood. The cultural festival will include stalls selling artisan goods, hot Japanese street food, and matcha while the streets are filled with performances of traditional Japanese dance and music.

When: September 14, 11am – 6pm

Berowra Woodchop Festival 2025

Flannel, sawdust, axes: head on up to Berowra next weekend for the annual woodchop festival. Expect the usual events — underhand, standing block, sawing — along with rides for the kids, market stalls, and live music from local acts including The Business and Parental as Anything. 

When: September 6, 10am – 4pm

Looking to leave all that hustle and bustle behind?

Wildflower Walk, Berowra Heights 

“Spring is the perfect time to reconnect with nature and discover the vibrant landscapes that make our Bushland Shire so special”, says Hornsby Shire Deputy Mayor McIntosh. Reconnect on this spring guided bushwalk in the Berowra bush. For Hornsby Shire residents only.

The Wanderers

Looking for a community to walk with? After my last what’s on article, The Wanderers reached out to me asking if I could include them in the next one. The North Shore based senior group walks every Monday in groups of around 10 to 15 people, exploring Sydney’s bushland and surrounds. They have no fees.
