Greenwich art trail 

Kicking off the month, head down to our own Greenwich Village for an art event spanning the first weekend of November. 

Walk along the trail set out across the harbourside suburb and see the works of 38 local artists. 

Free bus shuttle service provided by Lane Cove Council.

When: November 1–2, 10am–4pm

Food & Wine by the Lane Cove River

In collaboration with over 20 wineries from the Mudgee region, Lane Cove will be hosting a festival by the river this weekend, with food stalls, live music, a dog show, and, of course, lots of wine. Family friendly, dogs welcome.

When: November 2, 11am–5pm

Hayden Orpheum Comedy Club

Comedy arrives at the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace this November, with a line up of seven Australian comedians set to take the stage for the theatre’s monthly comedy club. Recommended for audiences 15 years and over. Tickets $25.

When: November 12, 8:30pm

Special Film Screenings 

The Palestine Laboratory

Antony Loewenstein is an award-winning filmmaker and journalist based in Sydney with a particular focus on Palestine and the Israeli weapons industry. His latest documentary, The Palestine Laboratory, will be screened in Crows Nest this month, followed by a Q&A with Loewenstein. Tickets $10.

Nosferatu Performed with Original Live Score

If you were a fan of Robert Eggers recent remake of horror film Nosferatu, enjoy the original German Expressionist vampire film at the Orpheum this month with the original score performed live by Australian composer Edwin Montgomery. Tickets $45.

Bad Shabbos

As part of the Jewish International Film Festival, Roseville Cinemas will be screening Daniel Robbins 2024 film Bad Shabbos, a comedy about a highly tense Shabbat dinner where an interfaith couple's parents will meet for the first time. Tickets $27.

City of God

As part of the Brazilian Film Festival in Australia, the Cremorne Orpheum will be screening the critically acclaimed 2002 film City of God. Tickets $28.

Kuring-Gai Art Exhibition

The Kuring-Gai Art Society is hosting a Spring Exhibition early this month at St Ives shopping village. Works on display include watercolours, oils, drawings, pastels, printmaking and drawings.

Native snail talk

Did you know that Australia is home to more than a thousand species of native snails? 

Despite this, the vast majority of snails we find in our gardens are not among these: they are introduced species. 

To learn more about native snails on the North Shore, come along to this free talk with Dr Isabel Hyman, a research scientist at the Australian Museum.

Castlecrag Fair 2025

On the first weekend of the month, the Castlecrag Progress Association will be hosting a fair at the local shops.

When: November 2, 10am–3pm

In Between

A group exhibition in Chatswood of four artists exploring the connection between natural and manmade environments. The exhibition is described as “responding to landscape, urbanism and interior spaces”. Free entry, opening event on November 8, 4pm.

Grasses of North Sydney

Do you like grass? No, not that type. 

This council-run workshop is geared toward Bushcare volunteers and those looking to get involved, who wish to improve their plant identification skills. Bring a drink bottle, enclosed shoes, and wear sunscreen. 

When: November 16, 10am–1pm

Gumnut Fair 

Were you a fan of our video on May Gibb’s Nutcote Cafe? This month, a Gumnut Fair will be hosted by the cafe, featuring homemade cakes, garden stalls, prize wheels and face painting. Dress in your best 1920s attire.
