Sydney Comedy Festival 2026

Comedy shows will be running across Sydney locations this month. Catch local comedy talent including Josh Thomas, Celia Pacquola and Dave Hughes at the Chatswood Concourse, or opt for a surprise at the Hayden Orpheum’s Festival Showcase, with a secret line-up.

The Beer Footy & Food Festival 

Returning to North Sydney Oval, this festival brings together local breweries, food trucks and of course the signature Beer Mile, for a weekend of festivity and footy. 

The festival’s schedule (first grade) is as follows:

Saturday, May 16

Game 1 – Penrith Panthers vs Western Suburbs Magpies

Game 2 – Newcastle Knights vs Newtown Jets

Game 3 – North Sydney Bears vs Sydney Roosters

Sunday, May 17

Game 1 – South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Manly Sea Eagles

Game 2 – New Zealand Warriors vs Melbourne Storm

Game 3 – St George Illawarra Dragons vs Parramatta Eels

Saturday tickets $35, Sunday $30, or $52 for a weekend pass. Kids under 12 are free.

National Premier League Football

North West Spirit FC plays at its home ground in Macquarie Park this month against Manly United, Marconi Stallions and APIA Leichardt. Tickets $15, available at gate or Football NSW website.

Banff Mountain Film Festival

Did you know there is a Canadian film festival entirely about mountains? The Banff Mountain Film Festival will be visiting the Hayden Orpheum this May as part of its world tour, showcasing the winners of the 2025 festival. Tickets $33.50. 

When: May 20, 21, 22, 7pm

Ku-ring-gai Heritage Festival

This upper North Shore festival has returned for its sixth year, exploring local history and celebrating Indigenous, natural, built and cultural heritage. Events in May include an exploration of Ethel Turner’s Woodlands House, a guided walk through the Swain Gardens and tea at the Eryldene Historic House and Garden.

The Festival: Sowing seeds of the first hope

Lee Sung-keun is a leading figure in Korean abstract art. His work will be exhibited at the Concourse Art Space Gallery from May 13 to 24.
